About the Ice Age saga
'Ice Age' was the big franchise of Blue Sky Studios, 20th Century Fox's animation studio. Chris Wedge's 'Ice Age' (2002) threw together, in the middle of the glaciation, three animals that should never have been friends: Manny, a grumpy mammoth; Sid, a chatty sloth; and Diego, a sabre-toothed tiger. It was nominated for the Oscar for best animated feature.
Its real star turned out to be Scrat, the prehistoric squirrel obsessed with his acorn, who opens every film. It was followed by 'Ice Age: The Meltdown' (2006), 'Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs' (2009), 'Ice Age 4: Continental Drift' (2012) and 'Ice Age: Collision Course' (2016), and the series took more than $3 billion worldwide.
After buying Fox, Disney closed Blue Sky in 2021 and released the spin-off 'The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild' (2022) on Disney+. The herd returns to cinemas with 'Ice Age: Boiling Point' in February 2027, with Ray Romano, John Leguizamo and Denis Leary back in the original voices.
