About the LEGO saga

The Danish building bricks of LEGO reached cinemas in 2014 with 'The LEGO Movie', directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. Its animation mimicked a world made of real bricks, and its story, about Emmet, an ordinary builder who turns out to be "the Special", was far smarter than anyone expected from a toy film.

It was a critical and popular hit, won the BAFTA for best animated film, and its song, "Everything Is Awesome", was nominated for an Oscar, though the film itself was surprisingly left out of the animation category. Its version of Batman got his own film, 'The LEGO Batman Movie' (2017), and the same year brought 'The LEGO Ninjago Movie'.

Emmet's story continued in 'The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part' (2019). In all, four films from Warner Bros. Animation that proved a toy-based film could also be a good comedy.
