Alexander Ludwig

Alexander Ludwig (Vancouver, May 7, 1992) is a Canadian actor who possesses that rare virtue of having grown up on screen without the audience noticing too much. The son of a former actress and a businessman who became co-chairman of Lionsgate (yes, the very production company that would later hire him), he began working at nine with an advertisement for a Harry Potter figurine. From there, he moved on to family films and his first leading role in The Seeker: The Dark Is Rising (2007), before sharing the screen with Dwayne Johnson in 'Race to Witch Mountain' (2009). A resolved childhood curriculum.

The breakthrough came in 2012 with 'The Hunger Games', where his Cato, the professional tribute from District 2, won the award for Best Villain at the Teen Choice Awards and made Ludwig the face that every teenager recognized instantly. But the role that truly defined his adult career was Bjorn Ironside in 'Vikings' (2014-2020), six seasons of historical drama, swords, and father-son crises that established him as more than just the handsome villain of the moment.

What followed was a calculated mix of box office hits and prestige: the AMMO team in 'Bad Boys for Life' (2020) and 'Bad Boys: Ride or Die' (2024), the professional wrestler in the series 'Heels', the Afghan thriller 'The Covenant' alongside Jake Gyllenhaal, and the post-apocalyptic miniseries 'Earth Abides'. To top it off, in 2021 he signed with BBR Music Group and launched himself as a country singer with the album Highway 99, because apparently playing a Viking for six seasons isn't exhausting enough.

His next stop is confirmed: the fourth season of 'The White Lotus', set between Cannes, Saint-Tropez, and Monaco under the direction of Mike White. Given Ludwig's track record (Cato died, Bjorn died, half the cast of his movies dies), would anyone bet that this time he makes it out of the hotel alive?
