Giant

'Giant' is a biopic, a biographical drama that tells the story of Prince Naseem “Naz” Hamed (Amir El-Masry), the British-Yemeni boxer who grew up in the humble neighbourhoods of Sheffield and went on to dominate the world boxing ring. From a very young age, Naz displays an innate talent and a defiant personality, a mixture of pride, irreverence and boundless confidence, which make him stand out among his peers and attract the attention of those who watch his progress in the ring.

The plot centres on the deep and complex relationship between Naz and Brendan Ingle (Pierce Brosnan), an Irish boxing coach with a background in the steel industry who immediately recognises the young man's potential. Brendan becomes not only his technical mentor, but also a father figure and spiritual guide, teaching him to refine his unconventional style and turn his explosive personality into a tool for excelling in a competitive and demanding sport. Through long training sessions, innovative strategies and a human bond full of expectations, conflicts and respect, Naz shapes his legend.

'Giant' also explores the social context in which Naz grows up and struggles: a Britain marked by racial tensions, Islamophobia and structural prejudice towards immigrant communities during the 1980s and 1990s. The film does not merely celebrate sporting victories; it also addresses how discrimination and media pressure impact the personal and professional life of a man who, despite his short stature, developed an imposing presence both inside and outside the ring.
