It comes as no surprise that following the successes of live-action versions of 'Cinderella', 'The Jungle Book' and 'Beauty and Beast', that Disney would want to throw caution to the wind once again with another remake of one of its classics. The company has recently revealed its plans for a 'Lady and the Tramp' remake with the collaboration of Charlie Bean (director of 'The LEGO Ninjago Movie').

As those Disney fans amongst us will know, 'Lady and the Tramp' tells the love story between Lady, a domesticated dog, and Tramp, a mere stray. The upcoming remake will incorporate a mix of real-life actors and scenery with CGI (as seen in 'The Jungle Book').

The film is set to release on Disney's upcoming streaming platform that the studio plans to launch in 2019. This isn't the first production that will appear on the platform, for, it's only been a few weeks since the company announced its plans for a life-action 'Star Wars' series, both written and produced by Jon Favreau ('Iron Man'). Disney intends to launch its platform in order to better compete with Netflix by releasing between 4 and 6 productions a year.

The list goes on...

'Lady and the Tramp' is just one of the latest titles to join the long list of live-action films that Disney has in the works. Next year we'll get to see new versions of 'Aladdin', directed by Guy Ritchie, as well as Tim Burton's 'Dumbo' and Favreau's 'The Lion King'. 2020 will see an live-action adaptation of 'Mulan'.

This year, Disney is set to release 'Christopher Robin', which will star Ewan McGregor alongside Hayley Atwell. The 'Winnie the Pooh' inspired film will hit UK cinemas on 17th August.
