About the Tad the Lost Explorer saga
Tad Jones is the most popular animated character in Spanish cinema. Created by Enrique Gato, he was born in a 2004 short about a bricklayer who dreams of being an archaeologist, and both that short and its follow-up won the Goya for best animated short.
Gato brought him to features with 'Tad, the Lost Explorer' (2012), released around the world, which won three Goya awards, including best animated film and best new director. In it Tad travels to Peru and takes on a gang of treasure hunters to protect a lost Inca city.
Then came 'Tad Jones and the Secret of King Midas' (2017), also winner of the Goya for best animated film, and 'Tad the Lost Explorer and the Curse of the Mummy' (2022), with Sara, Jeff the parrot and the Mummy as his companions. The fourth film, 'Tad and the Magic Lamp', was released in September 2026.
