Plot
The Boy and the Heron' is the latest film from Studio Ghibli director and co-founder Hayao Miyazaki. This latest adventure is based on the novel by Yoshino Genzaburo, published in 1937 and presents a plot with an intimate idiosyncrasy very marked where the protagonist Kopeur, is a teenager who has suffered the death of his father and is forced to move to live with his uncle.
This novel is told from the perspective of Koperu himself, who is in full evolution and development of vital teachings and according to the diary written by his uncle, where he shares his doubts about how to educate him. However, this adaptation of the novel and its trailer introduce us to Mahito, a teenager who loses his mother due to the bombing of Japan and has to move in with his aunt. In this fantasy universe, Mahito will be helped by a heron who is able to talk and who, according to her, knows how to take him to his mother.
The film is produced by the legendary anime studio Studio Ghibli and Toho Company. In addition to directing it, Hayao Miyazaki also wrote the screenplay with Genzaburô Yoshino.
The cast includes Soma Santoki, Masaki Suda, Takuya Kimura, Aimyon, Kô Shibasaki, Yoshino Kimura and Shohei Hino among others.
In Spain, the movie will be premiered on October 27.

Hayao Miyazaki originally hoped to finish and release the film in the summer of 2020 to coincide with the Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan, which were postponed until 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
