The Wrong Missy

For many critics, Lauren Lapkus, from 'Orange Is the New Black', was the best thing about 'The Wrong Missy'. She plays Missy, a woman so loud and unpredictable that her blind date, the rather dull businessman Tim Morris, ends up escaping through the restaurant's bathroom window.

Months later Tim meets another Melissa at the airport, gorgeous and successful, and thinks he's finally found the one. After days of increasingly flirty texts, he invites her along on his company's retreat in Hawaii. Trouble is, he's been texting the wrong number, and the woman who turns up on the plane, ready for the time of her life, is the Missy from that disastrous date. To make things worse, his ex fiancée is on the trip too.

Produced by Adam Sandler's Happy Madison for Netflix and directed by Tyler Spindel from a script by Chris Pappas and Kevin Barnett, the film pairs Lauren Lapkus with David Spade. Molly Sims, Sarah Chalke, Nick Swardson, Geoff Pierson, Jackie Sandler, Rob Schneider and wrestler Roman Reigns round out the cast, and Sandler's daughters Sadie and Sunny pop up in small parts.

It premiered on Netflix on 13 May 2020, and the streamer said 59 million households watched it in its first four weeks. Spade and Lapkus were both nominated at the following year's Razzies, and its average across the 15 outlets collected on Movienco is 4 out of 10.
