About the One Piece saga
'One Piece' is Eiichiro Oda's manga, published in Weekly Shōnen Jump since 1997, and the best-selling comic ever by a single author. It follows Monkey D. Luffy, a young pirate with a body as stretchy as rubber, and his crew, the Straw Hat Pirates, in search of the treasure that will make him King of the Pirates.
Toei's anime, on air since 1999, has produced fifteen films. Highlights include 'One Piece: Baron Omatsuri and the Secret Island' (2005), directed by Mamoru Hosoda; 'One Piece Film: Strong World' (2009), the first with a story by Oda himself; 'One Piece Film Z' (2012), 'One Piece Film Gold' (2016) and 'One Piece: Stampede' (2019).
'One Piece Film Red' (2022), featuring Uta, a singer whose songs are performed by the Japanese singer Ado, is the highest-grossing film in the series. In 2023 Netflix released a live-action series with Iñaki Godoy as Luffy.
