Black Adam

Black Adam is Shazam's nemesis. A man who began as a slave and managed to become something much bigger by obtaining, like Shazam, his powers through magic. The character has been redefined by DC Comics writers Jerry Ordway, Geoff Johns and David S. Goyer as a corrupt antihero who tries to clear his name and reputation. The film has announced its release date for December 22, 2021 and will star Dwayne Johnson ('Jumanji: Welcome to the jungle', 'Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw', 'Rampage'...) in his first foray into the world of superheroes and comics. It is the new film about a villain that DC prepares after the overwhelming success of 'Joker' (2019), by Todd Phillips ('The Hangover', 'The Hangover Part II', 'The Hangover Part III', 'War Dogs'...).

While Black Adam does not physically appear in 'Shazam!' (2019), the Magician mentions him as an earlier champion who became evil by throwing the Seven Deadly Sins, and is briefly shown in a magical projection. The powers of Black Adam, the comic, are practically similar to those of Shazam !, because to obtain his powers he must also pronounce the word SHAZAM !, which has a different meaning. Black Adam appears in an animated short film entitled Superman/Shazam!: The Return of Black Adam voiced by Arnold Vosloo.
