The 2024 Oscar ceremony returns to the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles with Jimmy Kimmel once again serving as the master of ceremonies. This is the fourth time the host leads the gala. This time, it is the 96th edition of the awards presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
The gala takes place on March 10, 2024, and is broadcast in the United States on the ABC network. The film 'Oppenheimer' by Christopher Nolan is the big winner of the night, achieving 7 out of the 13 nominations it is up for, including Best Picture. It is the first film to win Best Picture and both male acting categories since 'Ben-Hur' in 1959.

Another record set by the Oscars this year is having three female directors among the nominees for Best Picture. Additionally, Martin Scorsese becomes the oldest nominee for Best Director at the age of 81. 'Poor Things' and 'The Zone of Interest' are the other two films that achieve the most awards at the ceremony, which garners 19.49 million viewers on ABC.
This edition also recognizes four honorary awardees, although they are presented on January 9. They are Angela Bassett, Mel Brooks, and Carol Littleton as honorary awardees, while the humanitarian award goes to Michelle Satter.
