The Mandalorian and Grogu

'The Mandalorian and Grogu' is an American film directed by Jon Favreau with a screenplay by Favreau himself along with Dave Filoni and Noah Kloor. It's the first Star Wars saga film in theaters since 'The Rise of Skywalker' in 2019. It's also a direct continuation of the Disney+ series 'The Mandalorian', which aired between 2019 and 2023. It stars Pedro Pascal, who once again takes on the role of Din Djarin, alias The Mandalorian.

On this occasion, we find ourselves several years after the fall of the Empire. Din and Grogu work for the New Republic, dedicating themselves to cleaning up the chaos left by the fall of the Empire. Their current mission is to find and rescue Rotta the Hutt, Jabba the Hutt's son, in exchange for valuable information that could help the New Republic pursue a dangerous target.

'The Mandalorian and Grogu' once again focuses on exploiting the complicity and comical relationship between The Mandalorian and Grogu, now that the latter has grown up and is capable of doing more things on his own.

The film has a small cast, where in addition to Pascal, Jeremy Allen White stands out as the voice of Rotta the Hutt, son of the late Jabba the Hutt, and Sigourney Weaver as Ward, a colonel and leader of the New Republic who previously worked as a pilot for the Rebels. Favreau and Filoni had already written practically the entire fourth season of the series. However, the start of filming coincided with the writers' and actors' strike. During this time, Disney reassessed the situation of the saga and decided to continue it through this film. We know that the film is independent from the already-written fourth season, which Disney has not yet given the green light to, nor do we know if it will ever see the light of day.
